These tulips in Delycia’s garden give us their gift every morning by slowly opening to the new light of day, and I should follow their faithful example by also opening up to every new day – every new moment, in fact. Like tulips, I close up at night in sleep, but unlike them, I sometimes stay asleep throughout most of the day, dozing off with stray thoughts as they dawdle through me hour after hour. These splendid tulips tell me to stand tall throughout the day, like they do, and allow light to fill me with life. I hope I can listen to their advice today … and tomorrow.
STRAIGHTNESS May 10, 2021 (about Bernice D., 61, Blessings, CT, USA) She has a way of making things seem straight. Branches of bushes seem to straighten when she touches them, and the scarf of a blue sky stretches out from east to west when she is walking with us. In her house, the only way to drink her shining water is from a modest glass and straight down with rejoicing. With her, we see confidence come racing into our lives like the Chevy she owns, as straight and smooth as a word spoken for a friend.
