STILL WELCOMING
Theme for April: Receptivity

STILL, AT 61
(about Harrison P., 61, Blessings, CT, USA)
He still knows the world
wakes up each moment.
He still wants to toil
in the fields of books,
to rest in the green grass
of good ideas,
to see dawn
shake out its hair over the sea,
to help himself
to whole hours of happiness.
He still wants to feel
the freedom of words
waving their arms as he writes them,
of poems sailing somewhere like ships,
of his honey
holding him in her arms.
During a windy, rainy walk yesterday morning, we passed the silent scene above, with the Mystic River in the distance. My blog’s theme for April is ‘receptivity’, and I see it in this scene – the grass that always receives what falls to it, the trees that seem to honor wind by bowing as it passes, and the far-off river that welcomes all visitors, from sheets of rain to spears of lightning to even peacefully silent mornings like this. The moon to the south of our house, April 2, 4:44 a.m.
Thank you
